Therapeutic Indications
Thuja is indigenous to the north-eastern regions of North America, but is cultivated worldwide. For years, Native people have used preparations from this plant for a variety of ailments; upper respiratory tract infections, cystitis (urinary problems),
delayed menstruation, warts, psoriasis, rheumatism, and to rid the body of worm infestations. Thuja is one of Nature's best insect repellents.
Research shows thujone, thuja's active constituent, is:
 |
antimicrobial: able to protect against many internal and dermal infections |
 |
expectorant: remedies upper respiratory tract infections |
 |
uterine stimulant: helps promote menstruation |
 |
diuretic: helps remedy cystitis |
 |
antirheumatic: alleviates the discomfort of rheumatism |
 |

Thuja is so powerful that internal use should be limited and infrequent. For external use, however, this plant is an invaluable resource.
Storage
Thuja Herbal Oil should be stored in a cool, dry area until it is used. Once opened, refrigeration and tightly closing the cap will prolong its shelf life.
Usage
For internal use, take 8-12 drops, 3 times daily to experience all of the benefits available from Thuja Herbal Oil.
For external use, warm this Oil to body temperature by rubbing between the hands or dipping in warm water. Apply liberally to affected areas, and massage in. Be sure to treat
the region adjacent to the wound, as healing is occurring here too.
If using a bandage, increase the amount of oil applied. This guarantees the area being treated is still exposed to the oil, not absorbed by the bandage.
Complimentary Therapies
Proper nutrition is vital to good health. Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses daily) and juice instead of coffee, tea or sodas. Try to avoid synthetic ingredients, highly concentrated in prepared or packaged foods, and take a well-balanced
multivitamin and mineral supplement.
Compression, elevation, and ice or heat can be used to alleviate discomfort. A qualified health practitioner should be consulted to confirm which is the best course of treatment for you.
