Research has determined the components of poke root to be saponins, alkaloids, tannins, proteins, and sugars. These constituents work together to provide the following medicinal benefits:
 |
anti-inflammatory: able to reduce the pain and severity of inflammations |
 |
antirheumatic: able to treat the discomforts of arthritis |
 |
mild analgesic: soothes pain |
 |
antimicrobial: able to protect against skin infections |
Poke root is considered one of the best topical treatments for inflamed regions, making this product invaluable for physical laborers, athletes, and our aging population.
Storage
Poke Herbal Oil should be stored in a cool, dry area until it is used. Once opened, refrigeration and tightly closing the cap will prolong its shelf life.
Usage
Poke Root Herbal Oil should only be used externally. Before use, warm the oil to body temperature by rubbing the bottle between your hands, or dipping the closed bottle in lukewarm water. Apply liberally to the
affected area, and massage in. Be sure to treat the region adjacent to the area, as healing is occurring here too.
If using a bandage, increase the amount of oil applied. This guarantees the area being treated is still exposed to the oil, not absorbed by the bandage.
Complimentary Therapies
Proper nutrition is vital to good health. Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses daily) and juice instead of coffee, tea or sodas. Try to avoid synthetic ingredients, highly concentrated in prepared or packaged foods, and take a well-balanced
multivitamin and mineral supplement.
Compression, elevation, and ice or heat can be used to alleviate discomfort. A qualified health practitioner should be consulted to confirm which is the best course of treatment for you.
