Therapeutic Indications
Coriander is a strongly aromatic annual herb that grows to about 1 meter in height, with bright green delicate leaves and clusters of delicate white flowers, followed by a mass of green round seeds which eventually turn brown. Traditionally, the seeds and leaves were used as a garnish and as a domestic spice, especially in curries. Therapeutically its main use was as an infusion for children's digestive upsets, griping pains, anorexia and flatulence. In Chinese medicine the whole herb is used for dysentery, piles, measles, nausea, toothache.

Therapeutically the uses for coriander oil are accumulations of fluids or toxins, arthritis, gout, muscular aches and pains, poor circulation, rheumatism and stiffness. It is also used for colic, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, piles and for colds, flu and infections. It has been helpful in migraines, neuralgia, and nervous exhaustion.

In the pharmaceutical arena it is used as a flavouring agent in digestive remedies. It is used as a fragrance in soaps and toiletries as well as in perfumes. In the food industry it is used in meat products and to flavour liqueurs and tobacco.

Storage
Coriander oil should be stored in a cool, dry area until it is used. Once opened, refrigeration and tightly closing the cap will prolong its shelf life.
