Indications
Burdock, a common weed and annoyance in Western Canada, is a very versatile herb. North American Natives discovered it is useful to treat indigestion, kidney ailments, gout, dropsy, dandruff, rheumatoid arthritis, high fever, and leprosy. Today, it is most commonly used as a mild diuretic, general tonic, and blood cleanser. It acts as a purifier in the Ojibwa cancer formula made famous by Rene Caisse.

Contraindications
Excessive doses could cause aching in the kidneys and lower back regions; lower dosage if this occurs. Do not take if pregnant or hypoglycemic. Keep out of the reach of children.

Therapeutic Indications
Burdock is an invaluable blood purifier to remedy dry, scaly skin conditions such as psoriasis, dandruff, and eczema. It also effectively helps treat syphilitic sores, carbuncles, boils, herpes, styes, acne, and canker sores. Extended consumption cleanses the blood. This allows self-healing of the skin with clean nourished blood. This blood also removes toxic substances from the tissue, which can aggravate the problem.

Traditionally, burdock root was prescribed by herbalists to help ease liver congestion and assist those with difficulty digesting fats. This root can also be used for rheumatism, arthritis, and as a cancer preventative. This biennial promotes and strengthens the immune system.

Burdock is classified as a bitter herb, stimulating the stomach to secrete bile and produce other digestive juices. It is, therefore, very useful to treat anorexia nervosa, digestive problems and regulate appetite. When used for gout, this herb causes the excretion of urea and uric acid.

Scientific investigations verify this plant's hypoglycemic properties (lowers blood sugar levels). Additional studies demonstrate burdock's active constituents are diaphoretic (promote sweating), antitumour, diuretic, antimicrobial, and antipyretic (reduce fever).

Storage
Burdock Root should be stored tightly sealed in a cool, dry area until it is required.

Usage
Take 3-6 drops 3-5 times daily before meals for an extended period of time (three to four months).
