Contraindications
This oil may be irritating to sensitive skin. Excessive use may irritate the kidneys.

Therapeutic Indications
This perennial woody vine grows up to 5 meters tall. It has heart shaped leaves and small white flowers. Its berries turn from red to black as they mature. Black pepper is the dried, fully grown, unripe fruit. The aroma of this oil is very sharp and spicy. Native to south west India, it is cultivated in tropical countries. Major producers are India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Madagascar. It is also distilled in Europe and America from the imported dried fruits.

Pepper has traditionally been used in the East for centuries for medicinal and culinary purposes. It is helpful in colic, constipation, diarrhoea, flatulence, heartburn, anemia, arthritis, muscular aches and pains, neuralgia, poor circulation, poor muscle tone, rheumatic pain, sprains, stiffness, loss of appetite and nausea.

Commercially, it is used in certain tonic preparations and in the perfume industry for unusual effects. The oil and oleoresin are used extensively in the food industry, as well as in alcoholic drinks.

Storage
Black Pepper oil should be stored in a cool, dry area until it is used. Once opened, refrigeration and tightly closing the cap will prolong its shelf life.

Usage
Muscle Rub & Pain Relief:
Use in a massage oil as a muscular warm up before a dancer's performance or an athlete's training session. Black Pepper assists in the maintenance of peripheral circulation bringing warmth to fatigued and stiff muscles while giving temporary relief to muscular pain and cramping.

Chilblains, Rheumatic Pain, Arthritic Pain: Massage the affected area with a massage oil to provide temporary relief.

Indigestion: For the temporary relief of indigestion and flatulence gently massage abdomen in a clockwise circular motion with a black pepper massage oil. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

Sore Throat: Use 2 drops of this oil in a large bowl of hot water, inhaling using steam inhalation.

Complimentary Therapies
