Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Natural Vitamin E
Dosage Forms
Arnica Herbal Oil is certified Kosher and Parve, and packaged in convenient 50 ml amber glass bottles with glass pipette droppers.
Indications
Arnica has historically been used to increase the circulation to peripheral areas of the body, which relieves the pain of bruises and sprains. It is also beneficial for reducing the inflammation and discomfort of rheumatism. For external use
only.
Contraindications
This product should not be taken internally as it can irritate various organs, resulting in stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting. Prolonged external use and its application to broken skin may lead to hypersensitivity.
Therapeutic Indications
Arnica is a flowering perennial herb native to the region between Europe and India. Traditionally, it was used both externally and internally for relieving sore throats, fevers, painful and inflammatory skin problems, and to improve peripheral
circulation.
Studies recently performed in Germany observed the external use of arnica to be:
 |
antiphlogistic: a reliever of feverish conditions such as inflammations |
 |
analgesic: pain relieving |
 |
antiseptic: able to protect against infection |
 |
helpful in reducing the pain and healing time of bruises, dislocations, sprains, strains, and insect bites |
Sesquiterpene lactones (SLs) in arnica were discovered to be responsible for these actions. Other compounds within arnica (i.e. polysaccharides) have been found to enhance the effects of the SLs, thereby bestowing greater
potency on this plant.
Storage
Arnica Herbal Oil should be stored in a cool, dry area until it is used. Once opened, refrigeration and tightly closing the cap will prolong its shelf life.
Usage
Arnica Herbal Oil should only be used externally. Before use, warm the oil to body temperature by either rubbing the bottle between the hands, or dipping the closed bottle in lukewarm water. It can then be
applied liberally to the affected area, and massaged in. Be sure to treat the region adjacent to the wound, as healing is occurring here too.
If using a bandage, the amount of oil applied should be increased. This guarantees the area being treated is still exposed to the oil, not absorbed by the bandage.
Complimentary Therapies
Proper nutrition is vital to good health. Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses daily) and juice instead of coffee, tea or sodas. Try to avoid synthetic ingredients, highly concentrated in prepared or packaged foods, and take a well-balanced
multivitamin and mineral supplement.
Compression, elevation, and ice or heat can be used to alleviate discomfort. A qualified health practitioner should be consulted to confirm which is the best course of treatment for you.
